Clothing Ideas for Personal Branding or Executive Headshot Photo Shoot

The best advice on what to wear - choose an outfit that makes you feel great!  Something that makes you feel confident, comfortable and aligns with your business professionalism and your personality.   When you feel great, it will show in the photos!

You want something that feels authentic, is comfortable, and still reflects your vibe and message. Whether you’re shooting for your business, personal brand, or capturing moments, the right outfit can make all the difference.

Here are a few tips to help you pick a piece that works for you:

1: Comfort is Key:

No matter how amazing an outfit looks, if you’re uncomfortable, it will show in the photos. Choose something that fits well and makes you feel confident and at ease. If you don’t feel good in it, it won’t show up in the best light.

The fit is important.  Some clothing just does not photograph well, and it usually comes down to the fit. We want to show the shape of the body in the most flattering way.  Baggy clothes do not photograph well.

2: Reflect Your Brand/Style:

Your outfit should align with the personality and values you want to communicate. For example, a sleek blazer might be great for a professional brand, while casual, relaxed wear might work better for a creative or lifestyle brand.

3: Neutral Tones or Pops of Color?

Neutral tones (think blacks, whites, grays, beiges) are always a safe bet for a polished look, but don’t be afraid to add a pop of color or pattern if it suits your vibe! Just make sure it doesn’t overpower the message you’re trying to send.

4. Layering Works Wonders:

Blazers, blouses, or cardigans are great options for layering. They offer versatility (easily removable for a more relaxed look) and can give you more options without the need for a full outfit change. I love using blazers over shirts/blouses or dresses. They are professional but still approachable. If you need any help, I’m always happy to bring in more pieces to tie in your look.

5: Fit Your Vibe:

Whether it’s chic, casual, or creative, make sure your outfit feels true to who you are. After all, your photos should capture the real you!

Ultimately, the goal is to choose an outfit that makes you feel confident, comfortable, and aligned with your brand. Don’t stress too much over the decision—when you feel great, it will show in the photos!
